Trick Or Treat?

We just got in from trick or treating with the kids. Lincoln went out with his friends, and we went to my friend Erin’s house and went out with them. She has 4 girls and a couple of their friends were with them, and we had Lochy and Kenzie, so it was quite the sight seeing all the kids swarm together at the door. People were looking out their windows in fear. The kids had so much fun. I think they are finally getting the idea of it. Last year they would run inside everyones houses, making themselves at home, taking off their shoes and all. And this year they lasted twice as long as last year. They got home, dumped their things in a pile and started eating. We let them go at it for 5 or 10 minutes and then brushed their teeth a few times and off to bed. Now they are sleeping soundly, worn out from their night of running from house to house. Pics to follow…

Pumpkin Carving & Halloween Treats

Last night we carved our pumpkins. For Lochy and Kenzie we just gave them sharpies and let them draw on the pumpkins, and Link carved a little one and Daddy and Link did the big one together. Kenzie and Lochy’s pumpkins are a little crazy looking…I think they were getting their inspiration from Jackson Pollock.

Link and Lochy are having halloween parties today with their class. I was up far too late attempting to copy Bakerella’s (she’s almost passing Martha Stewart for my baking idol) cute cute halloween cupcake pops. Cupcake pops are these bite size moist delicious cupcake like things on a stick dipped in chocolate. They are A LOT of work, there are SOOO many steps to follow. For Halloween she did some in various halloween shapes. Hers were perfect and beautiful and mine looked like a 4 year old had done them.  I couldn’t find an edible ink pen that would work properly on the white chocolate…and I tried several. I had to make 17 ghosts for Loch’s class and 31 skulls for Linc’s class(plus extras for the family to eat of course). I dont even want to count the hours it took me, and they didnt even turn out as cute as I wanted them to. I will try again next year…if I can locate a proper edible ink pen. Here are some pics….

RILEY LAUGHED!!!

(This actually happened on Wednesday)

Riley has been smiling for weeks but on Wednesday night she LAUGHED…a HUGE belly laugh. It was the cutest thing I have ever heard. I was crying and laughing all at the same time. I had her in her Bumbo chair while I was sewing and out of nowhere she started to laugh…and kept doing it for about 10 minutes. It was late and everyone else was in bed. I wanted to wake them all up so they could hear it. But I didn’t of course. Ive been acting like an idiot ever since trying to get her to laugh again. Im sure she thinks I am crazy. 🙂

Birthday Party and Halloween Parties

Today was a VERY busy day for our little ones. Lincoln had a hockey game at 8am, then we headed out to a birthday party for Kenzie’s friend Hannah who turned 3. They ate, played, ran around, had cake…the usual. Then we went home, the kids took a quick nap and then Daddy went to a hockey game, Lincoln went to his friends house for a Halloween party (where he won the prize for “most original costume”), and I took the three little ones to a little kid halloween dance/party. They had SO much fun. There were SOOOO many people there, so many kiddies all dressed up. Loch and Kenz, my little M&Ms won a prize in the costume contest for age 4 and under. They ate way too much candy, danced up a storm, played with their friends, saw a haunted house, and danced some more. I have included some pics. I dont have a pic of Link IN his costume, but I will add one the next time he gets the costume on…I did include one of his costume after I finished making it, and some pics of the little ones at their halloween party.

End of Football

I am really late getting this in here…(imagine that…me? late?)…

Lincoln’s final football game of the season was last weekend. We all went out to watch, including a few of Links friends. He played really well, and it was close, but they ended up losing 20-18. Here are a bunch of pics of Lincoln playing, as well as some pics on the sidelines, and the award ceremony. Lincoln is # 10 if you can make him out in the pics.

Uh Oh MacKenzie

Yesterday MacKenzie decided to have some fun with herself and her sister…with a red permanent Sharpie!!! I didn’t know that much ink even existed in one Sharpie. It was all up and down her legs, her arms, her hands, one hand was covered completely like a glove, on her face, and she even “painted” her toenails with it. She also got a couple marks on Riley’s face. It was also all over Riley’s Bumbo chair, the couch, and a few other random things. I have included a picture of the girls. Check out how guilty they look…

Hockey Season Again

Link’s hockey season has begun. I am amazed at how much better Link has gotten since last year…with his skating and his confidence. And once again, he looks pretty adorable in all the equipment. He really excited about getting back into it. It will be a little busy for the next few weeks since Hockey and Football overlap for awhile, but once thats done he can concentrate on just one. I included a few pics of his first weekend back at it. GO LINKY!!

Worldwide Breast Feeding Challenge

This morning Riley and I went to the World Breast Feeding Challenge. Breast feeding mothers and babies around the world gathered to promote the importance of mothers milk and the necessity to support breast feeding. At the same time, all across the world babies latched on to raise breast feeding awareness. It was a very empowering experience. Sitting in public breast feeding your baby with so many other women and knowing that there were thousands more around the world doing the exact same time. I think almost half the people at the event were people I already knew from Sudburymoms (my online mommy forum). It was a fun couple hours, seeing all the other babies. They supplied us with a mountain of really great food and drinks, everyone got T-shirts, handmade baby blankets, gift certificates, baby books, and other odds and ends. I almost didn’t go this morning because I woke up with a horrible cold, sore throat, headache, etc, but I am SO glad I went. I fully intend to go again next year. This is a really amazing event and totally necessary. Society still has miles to go in accepting breastfeeding and ESPECIALLY accepting breast feeding in public. You would be amazed at the looks of disgust people still dish out when they see you feeding your baby in public. Nourishing your baby isn’t something to be ashamed of. We shouldn’t have to run to the bathroom to feed our babies. I dont eat in the bathroom, I dont intend to force my baby to do so either.

Go Mommy Milk!!!

Hockey Lochy

Lochlann started Hockey today. Well I guess it’s more like a combo… learning to skate/hockey. But he is pretty excited. He has been dragging his hockey bag around for a couple days and last night after they were in bed I walked by his room and heard him talking to himself, muttering about scoring goals and being a fast hockey player. SO adorable. Here are a few pics of his first practice.
